PEARLS Foundation is a charitable organization within the meaning of Section 50I(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 (the “Code”), and the Texas Tax Code, Section 11.18. providing assistance to PEARLS Court, EAGLES Court, and the participants and graduates of these restorative Court Programs. Our heart is to make a positive difference for Teens in Foster Care. Created in 2017, PEARLS Foundation was created by a group of amazing volunteers who wanted to assist PEARLS Court and its programming. Since then, the Foundation has expanded its focus to include teen boys in the EAGLES Court restorative court and the alummi of both Court programs.
The Mission of PEARLS Foundation is to Stand with Teens in Foster Care
PEARLS Foundation supports the PEARLS Court and EAGLES Court programs. As such, our focus is providing resources to assist these restorative court programs to provide comprehensive trauma-informed care, powerful positive mentoring, and interactive life-skills training to Foster Care Teens in Bexar and surrounding counties.
After testing the concept of PEARLS Court in March-May, PEARLS Court fully launched in September 2015 with the help of so many community partners, including Girls Inc. In its initial year, PEARLS Court served ten rising teen girls in Foster Care.
With the initial of financial help, PEARLS Court was able to hire professional staff to provide therapy and case management and administer the life-skill curriculum and mentoring program. This enabled the program to serve more teens in Foster Care.
In the 2017-18 school year, PEARLS Court was able to serve 32 Foster Teen Girls in its program. The PEARLS Girls excelled, motivated by 60+ committed volunteers (giving 1000+ hours of their hearts and lives), dedicated DFPS case workers, remarkably gifted staff, and impassioned Judges.
Seeing the continued need and growth of PEARLS Court, PEARLS Foundation launched to provide a platform for more effectively gathering resources to stand with the amazing Teens in the PEARLS Court program.
As PEARLS Court expanded, the program expanded in 2020 to teen boys in EAGLES Court, and the Foster Care (and all our community) faced the challenges posed by COVID and other difficulties, PEARLS Foundation has maintained a steady basis of support.
With the financial and in-kind support provided through PEARLS Foundation, the PEARLS Court and EAGLES Court programs have provided services to Teens in Foster Care.
